One life changing day after the other.
Recently I realised something. I realised that I am who I am. That I can only be the best that I can be. That there will always be someone smarter, someone prettier, someone more selfless. I also realised that I'm OK with that, and that actually I love who I am, the best that I can be is pretty damn good and that I'm not aiming to be the smartest, prettiest and loveliest girl in the world. I just want to be happy with who I am. And I am! So there we go, job done! Of course I haven't reached self actualisation that easily. No, I know that I'll only be happy with who I am if I am continually trying to improve myself. I can only be the best that I can be by pushing myself to do better next time. It will be a long, hard journey but it is one that is definitely worth taking.
I am currently in the middle of Freshers week, a time to have fun and make friends and, for the majority of people, to get absolutely wasted. So far so good (though on the alcohol front I have managed to keep my dignity thus far, gone are the days where I would carelessly drink a bottle of wine in one go, I learnt that lesson the hard way!) As much fun as freshers is I feel that more than anything I have used it as a time of reflection. I've found myself sitting and asking myself how I want to live my life. And to be honest I've been quite impressed with the answers.
I hadn't realised how much I've changed as a person in the past year. From leaving sixth form to getting to University I've done so much, made so many new friends and most importantly I've grown up. I know now that my hapiness depends on me. Life is all about attitude. Change your attitude, be positive, and see what a difference it makes.
